Dialogue Session Examines the Role of Excellence Awards in Enhancing the Competitiveness of Jordan’s Hotel Sector
Under the patronage of Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Dr. Imad Hejazeen, a participatory dialogue session for Jordan’s hotel sector and its partners was held to discuss the role of excellence awards in enhancing private-sector competitiveness and promoting outstanding performance.
The session was attended by Executive Director of the King Abdullah II Center for Excellence Widad Qteishat; Secretary-General of the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities Mohammad Al-Majali; Director General of the Jordan Tourism Board Ramzi Al-Maaytah; President of the Jordan Hotels Association Hussein Hilalat; Deputy Chairman of the Association Hani Al-Dabbas; and a number of representatives of the hotel sector and relevant stakeholders.
During the session, Dr. Hejazeen emphasized the importance of the King Abdullah II Award for Excellence as a tool for supporting the development of the hotel sector, promoting institutional excellence, enhancing operational efficiency, improving service quality, and adopting best administrative and operational practices. These efforts, he noted, contribute to strengthening the ability of hotel establishments to compete and keep pace with developments in the tourism sector.
He also highlighted the importance of involving representatives of the hotel sector in discussions on the award’s criteria, requirements, and implementation mechanisms. Such engagement, he said, would help enhance hotels’ readiness and improve their performance according to clear standards of excellence and quality, while raising the level of services provided to visitors. He stressed that fostering a culture of excellence is an important pillar for improving institutional and operational performance and strengthening the competitiveness of Jordan’s tourism and hotel sectors.
For her part, Executive Director of the King Abdullah II Center for Excellence Widad Qteishat outlined the importance of the award and its role in promoting a culture of institutional excellence and encouraging private-sector institutions to adopt continuous development and improvement methodologies. She emphasized the importance of partnership and dialogue with different economic sectors to ensure that excellence standards are aligned with their needs and challenges.
President of the Jordan Hotels Association Hussein Hilalat emphasized the importance of strengthening the partnership between the hotel sector and the King Abdullah II Center for Excellence in a way that contributes to embedding a culture of quality and excellence within hotel establishments, improving work practices, and enhancing operational efficiency.
Hilalat noted that the participation of hotels in such dialogue sessions provides an opportunity to exchange expertise, learn about best practices, and enhance the sector’s readiness to meet development requirements and improve the quality of hotel services provided to visitors.
Deputy Chairman of the Jordan Hotels Association Hani Al-Dabbas added that the King Abdullah II Award for Excellence represents an important tool for supporting the development of the hotel sector, strengthening institutional excellence, enhancing operational efficiency, improving service quality, and encouraging hotel establishments to adopt best administrative and operational practices.
Al-Dabbas stressed the importance of involving the hotel sector in discussions on the award’s criteria and requirements, noting that this would help improve hotels’ readiness to participate, strengthen their competitiveness, and develop the level of services provided to visitors, thereby contributing positively to the growth and development of Jordan’s tourism and hotel sectors.
The session featured a participatory discussion on ways to enhance the hotel sector’s readiness to meet excellence requirements, improve institutional and operational performance, and exchange expertise and best practices. Discussions also addressed the sector’s needs and challenges related to implementing excellence standards, with the aim of improving the quality of hotel services and strengthening the competitiveness of Jordan’s tourism sector.
The session forms part of ongoing efforts to strengthen public-private sector partnerships and establish quality and excellence as key pillars for developing Jordan’s tourism and hotel sectors, enhancing the readiness of establishments to keep pace with modern standards, and strengthening their ability to provide high-quality and competitive services.
